21st century speaks for itself. Though the nations are brimming with advancements, technological developments etc. and the common man is achieving higher living standards but one thing which is also simultaneously increasing is health issues!! More developments better living standards are not only providing liesures but are an invitation to stress and tension which ultimately land us in one or the other physical ailment or mental trauma. Due to the increasing stress and frustrations people often resort to things which give them a pleasurable illusive feeling for a while. It is often observed that smokers when asked about how they feel after smoking describe it as an ultimate feeling of relaxation and pleasure, they find it refreshing to hold a cigarette in hand after working a day long at office, the obvious reason for this kind of feeling is the presence of nicotine in the cigarettes because nicotine acts on that part of brain which makes one feel pleasurable even for no reason. It stimulates the feeling more, further a person smokes. The realization is felt within 10 seconds of smoking and disappears soon after thus leaving the smoker craving for more. Consequently this process becomes regulative in a manner of smoking -craving, smoking - craving. |

Can you smell that? I sure can. Its the couple about six feet away from my table. They're smoking it up while I'm trying to enjoy a dinner out with my wife and daughter. Wow, is this ever annoying! You'd think they would go get some quit smoking help or something. It's not like it's hard to come by in this day and age. Yes indeed, this is what all the non-smokers are thinking, and we definitely out-number all you chimneys out there. One thing is for certain; we're never going to stop until all smoking is banned in all public places. You want to know why? It's simple; we shouldn't have to be exposed to your nasty habit, because it affects our lungs and health as well. That's not fair. Get a clue, smokers! |

Smoking during ones teenage years is one of the easiest times to become addicted to smoking. The media, peer pressure, lack of knowledge, as well as other factors all are given as messages to teenagers to begin smoking. This causes them to move towards developing a bad habit out of smoking. As a parent, it is important to have tools which will move against what is being seen about smoking. By giving them alternative ideals that move away from smoking, you will be giving them an alternative answer to developing a bad habit. There are several different types of tools that you can use in order to help your teen to never stop smoking. The best preventative measures that you can take as a parent is to have the knowledge available to give to your teen about smoking. I had been a smoker for the last 15 years and despite my best efforts, had not been able to quit. I'd tried to do so countless times in the past, but neither the dire health warnings that I read nor the desperate pleas from my family members were enough to get me to kick the habit. I was too far gone in my addiction and could not just quit cold turkey. I needed something that would control my craving for cigarettes and help me get through the day without smoking. A friend mentioned that he was able to quit after using nicotine patches and recommended that I try them out for myself. I agreed for the sake of my family. |

Many smokers may think that quitting cold turkey is a more painful process than a gradual withdrawal from nicotine. However, some quitters maintain that quitting cold turkey—an immediate and complete withdrawal from nicotine without the aid of nicotine supplements—is a better way to go because nicotine supplements merely draw out the process and the nicotine addiction. WhyQuit.com maintains that, as long as nicotine is still in a smoker’s system, his body will continue to crave its full complement of the drug. Rather, if the smoker practices complete nicotine cessation, his withdrawal period will be shorter (roughly two weeks) and his cravings less intense. A mere 20 minutes after smoking her last cigarette, a smoker will already start to feel the positive effects of quitting. Within 72 hours of complete nicotine cessation, all nicotine and carbon dioxide will be gone from a smoker’s system, and he will be well on his way to improved health. |
