Smoking is not good for health and this is a well known fact. Those who smoke are well aware about the various hazards of smoking. You may have made several promises to yourself to quit smoking this year. Maybe you are going to be a parent soon and you want to quit it for the sake of your child. Whatever the reason may be, quitting smoking is the best decision you can ever make. Your health will improve once you stop smoking, you will become less prone to several diseases and your appearance will also improve. What more, it will also save you lot of money.

Dealing with the smoking temptations is the most difficult part. It's not easy to give up nicotine. Even those who have quit smoking will agree that it's indeed quite difficult. It requires tremendous determination and courage to get rid of this habit.

You can try these ways to deal with the smoking temptations:

You have to dump all the things related to smoking once you have decided to quit it. Throw away your cigarettes, lighters and ashtray. You should not keep anything with you that are related to smoking. Check and remove all the stray cigarettes that may be found in the glove compartment of your car, your jacket and purse and at your desk at office.

You may have a habit of smoking with your colleague during the break time in office. You need to develop a new routine which will keep you away from smoking. You can start talking to your colleagues who are non-smokers. You can also go for a walk during your break time. This will help you to stretch and relax. You can also try to solve crossword puzzles during your spare time. This will keep you occupied and prevent your smoking temptation.

Many people have the habit of smoking while watching their favorite television show or movie. You can just walk out and go a walk when you are having that carving to smoke. This is however not a very practical idea. You can try your hand at knitting. This will keep you busy while you are watching TV. You can eat pistachio nuts to get rid of this craving.

You must take help of your family and friends in this process. They will help you to deal with the situation in a better way.

Try to make new friends. This becomes absolutely essential when your friends do not support you and keep on offering you cigarettes from time to time.

Always tell yourself that how good it is to quit smoking. Keep on repeating the reasons for quitting to yourself.

You save a lot of money when you decide to quit. Use that money to buy something special for yourself. This will be a great way to reward you.

You may have temptations to smoke in spite of following these ideas. However they help to deal with the process of quitting smoking in a better way. You need to be determined and firm and you will be definitely able to give up smoking!
