The first step in quitting smoke, among the several ways to help quit smoking is to make the decision to achieve the goal. To help quit smoking, some people start using medications such as nicotine patches or inhalers while others start using therapy or hypnosis as a solution to their problem. Remember that is a matter of what works best for each individual. Still, below there are presented in a brief way some of the common practices employed today as an overview:

1. Group and moral support: A group of people is all they need to help for some attempting to quit smoking. Sometimes to stop a person smoking the support and confidence of family and friends is often enough, and there are some specialized groups, outside the family that provide this kind of moral support. When they attempt to accomplish a goal with friends, many people report great results.

The connection between human beings is appealed by several support groups and "stop-smoking aids" to advertise their product or their terms of advice just because of this reason. A common motivator in human behavior trends is moral support and peer opinion.

2. Drugs and medical assistants: In order to stop the craving for a cigarette, many people turn to medication. The aforementioned nicotine patches is one of the several ways to employ such drugs, but also, nicotine gum can be used (replaces the body’s urge for a smoke by releasing in the body a small amount of nicotine that does not harm the lungs and other organs).

Recently appeared on the market, several nicotine-free drugs have been approved by the Federal drug administration. These drugs replace the body’s desire for one drug (nicotine in this case) this way breaking the cycle of addiction. Also, anti-smoking vaccines are available on the market. For the smokers that cannot find another way to help quit smoking there are these recently tested and FDA approved drugs and vaccines.
