Stop smoking gum is made with nicotine polacrilex, and is like any other normal chewing gum, but it is recommended to be taken only in a maximum 25 pieces of gum in a 24 hour period depending on the strength of the gum, and the smoker’s need to smoke. Still, the gum should only be taken when the urge to smoke is highest, because at that moment, the gum releases a low quantity of nicotine, and produces effects similar to a smoke, and once the taste of the gum disappears, you can chew the gum again, and this helps the smoker by stopping him from lighting another cigarette.
Because the strength of the gum is predetermined, and no one should take excessive amount of nicotine without any reason, the gum is a part of the smoking replacement therapy and it is recommended to only be taken under medical supervision. It can either be used a 2mg gum, or a 4mg gum the quantity depending on the smoker’s needs, and the physician’s advice. It’s important not to eat or drink anything 15 minutes before using the gum, because it can reduce its effectiveness. After this, the gum should be chewed for half an hour continuously for maximum efficiency, then the gum should be allowed to rest between the cheek and tongue (this way, the gum has a continuous release of nicotine). And once the taste of the gum disappears you can chew the gum again. People suffering from hypertension and heart diseases are recommended to take the gum only under supervision. In other groups, the gum is totally safe, but it can show small side effects like mouth sores or indigestion. It’s important not to use gum along with cigarettes because they can increase the nicotine quantity in the blood to a harmful level. The gum is available in different flavors, mint and citrus so anyone can pick the preferred one. |
